South Kilbraur Wind Farm

Welcome to the South Kilbraur wind farm community website

Wind2 is currently consulting on proposals for a wind farm on land located 3km east of Rogart, 5km north-west of Golspie and 1km south of the operational Kilbraur wind farm in East Sutherland.

Draft proposals for South Kilbraur wind farm comprise up to seven wind turbines, each with a blade tip height of up to 149.9 metres.

Based on an installed capacity of 28 megawatts, South Kilbraur wind farm would have the potential to generate around 91,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity, sufficient to meet the needs of around 22,000 homes while offsetting approximately 39,000 tonnes of CO2 per year*.

If approved, Wind2 is also committed to providing a community benefit fund equivalent to £5,000 per megawatt of installed capacity per year. Based on 28 megawatts, this equates to £140,000 per year or £3.5 million over 25 years.

In addition, we are also exploring opportunities for the local community to acquire a direct stake of up to 5% in the project, potentially providing a further significant dividend for local residents.
